Man injured in Durban street shooting dies

Lawrence Wynne, nicknamed “Boy Boy”, died today from his injuries at the Georgetown Public Hospital after being injured in the fatal shooting on a Durban street yesterday morning.

Police confirmed today that Wayne was taken to GPHC under the escort of public-spirited people and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for treatment in a critical condition.

He suffered gunshot wounds in his lower abdomen and right arm. Police went to GPHC at around 9.20am today and were informed by the doctor on duty that Wayne was declared dead at around 9am. The body is currently at the GPHC mortuary awaiting an autopsy.

Yesterday, police said six people were taken to hospital and Anthony “Pandit” Havercombe, 40, died. Lawrence’s name was not among the six people listed by police.
Lennox Wayne (known as “Two Colours”), Destra Arthur and Lloyd Roberts remain in treatment. Their conditions are stable.
The investigation is still ongoing.
