Man dies from multiple gunshot wounds at clinic

This Monday evening around 7:30 pm, a man named Ramírez Villavicencio died from multiple gunshot wounds at a clinic in La Selva de Guácimo, Limón.

Initial reports said that Ramirez, 25, was walking home from a supermarket when two or three men on motorcycles shot him several times and then fled. The victim was left on the road and neighbors managed to take him to the Guasimo Clinic in a private car, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities collected ballistic evidence of some 9mm pistol-type weapons at the scene. In addition, they found the motorcycle involved in the case in the Jiménez River, about 20 kilometers from the crime scene. After losing control and suffering obvious mechanical failure, the attackers would abandon the motorcycle in the middle of the river.

According to the Judicial Investigation Bureau (OIJ), the motorcycle used in the murder and abandoned in the river was the subject of an arrest warrant issued on May 10 in the Guácimo community on suspicion of robbery.
