Jamaican wizard Stuart Staines was handed over to immigration officials, reprimanded by a court and sacked after he admitted two charges of harassment.

The 49-year-old man, formerly of Plot 9, Kirtons No. 1, St Philip, is accused of molesting a 14-year-old girl between November 1 and 30, 2023; and again molesting a 14-year-old girl on January 10, 2024 at Kirtons Main Road, St Philip.

Staines denied both charges at his first appearance at C District Court in January and was jailed. However, he changed his plea earlier this month to admitting to molesting the secondary school student.

Officer Mary Eugene read out what the teen told police: sometime last November, a man she didn’t know who spoke with a Jamaican accent approached her and repeatedly asked her name, so she gave him a fake one.

About two weeks later, she saw him again at the bus stop. This time, he approached her, touched her shoulder and asked, “What happened?” She did not respond.

Soon after, Stans told the girl he had “plans” for her, which frightened the girl.

On January 10 this year, the girl came to the bus stop again and Stans approached her, stretched out his hands and knocked her. The girl ignored him and walked towards a group of students nearby. Stans also approached and a boy student intervened and told him not to bother her. The girl did not know him. Stans then got in a van and left the area.

He was identified by police at a bus stop a few days later and subsequently charged with the offences.

In court, Staines’ version of events was that he spoke to the girl but only told her that her attire was inappropriate.
