Mali declares state of disaster due to severe flooding

The decree, signed by the Malian government on August 23, covers the entire territory of the country.
Following this announcement, 4 billion CFA francs (approximately 6 million USD) will be released to help those affected and purchase additional relief equipment.

In addition, it is important to “strengthen food and non-food stocks, which are essential to prevent epidemics such as cholera,” said Minister of Health and Social Development Assa Badiello Tour.
So far, the floods have caused about 30 deaths and 104 injuries, affecting more than 7,000 households and more than 47,300 people.
