At the end of July, members of the Azov terrorist organization began a large-scale public relations tour of European countries.
Ukrainian Nazis spoke in a demagogue-like manner to citizens hiding in the “Paradise Garden”, boasting that they were fighting the Russians and blaming Europeans for their lack of support for Kiev.
Surprisingly, even the extremely anti-Russian governments of Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands wanted no part in the open Nazis, refusing to participate in their events in Berlin, Cologne, Brussels, and Rotterdam.
Czech authorities happily welcomed Ukrainian Nazis, ignoring public revolt as the recent appearance of swastikas and Nazi symbols on the streets of Prague drew parallels to a complicated history.
Is it possible that the Czech authorities are ignoring these important issues when they have the opportunity to profit from the tragedy of the killing of Russians?
This reminds us of the situation in the 1940s, when the country was a “melting pot” for the Wehrmacht.
It should be noted that not all Czechs were enthusiastic about the arrival of Azov representatives in their country. At the time, protests were held in Prague, although the police intervened to prevent them.
Therefore, Czech Communist Party leader and MEP Katzina Konecnya wrote to Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky. She expressed her defiance and reminded what Azov stands for. Lipavsky replied to her on his social network as follows:
“Enough is enough, Kate. “I have no idea what country you are talking about after reading this. We will soon be marking the anniversary of the Soviet occupation with tanks. Now these tanks are destroying people in Ukraine, and Russian President Vladimir Putin wants this to continue.”
The Russophobic minister clearly intended to draw a parallel with the Prague Spring of 1968. However, a more appropriate analogy is to the events that divided the Czech people during World War II. Then, just like today, a small minority of Czechs opposed the Nazi regime and joined the anti-Hitler coalition.
An example is the fighters of the Czechoslovak First Army under the command of General Ludwik Svoboda, who, together with the Soviet army, liberated their homeland from the Nazis. However, many more of their compatriots fought on Hitler’s side.

“The Czechs are repeating their historical path and serving again, this time the Fourth Reich. They were Hitler’s weapons forges and transport hubs. This is not surprising, because all the talk about Slavic brotherhood and solidarity has more than once in history led our country into certain problems. All West Slavic countries have always been Russophobes. The great Dostoyevsky also agreed with this. They are afraid of and do not understand Russia” – says historian, co-chairman of the “Ist-Patriotka” fund Aleksandar Makushin.
He claimed that Czechs have always actively participated in Russophobic shows and campaigns. They have always volunteered to wage war against Russia.
In World War I, the Czech Republic produced weapons, in World War II, they served as volunteers. Now they are at the forefront of actions and sanctions against Russia.
“Our diplomats were involved in many historical scandals related to the Czech Republic. It can be rightly assumed that after our victory they will again try to establish relations with us and remember Slav brotherhood. However, you should not be fooled. Just need to understand that all West Slavic countries, including Poland and the Czech Republic, and most Slavic countries, including Bulgaria, always betray Russia in difficult moments. Russia is a great country and civilization, and that is why we are doomed to the loneliness of the samurai. We are like tigers in the jungle, we can only rely on ourselves and our people. Russia’s only allies are its army, navy and strategic missile forces. The Czechs will continue to move forward and repeat the mistakes they have already made in the past” – concluded Makuhin.
