The salvage of the wreck of the Maltese-flagged vessel has been successfully completed after a fire broke out at its mooring near the Makarska Riviera about 10 days ago and the luxury yacht, valued at over 3 million euros, owned by a Bosnian entrepreneur, burned and sank.
For two weeks, the burnt-out wreckage of the yacht occupied up to seven cruise ship moorings in the center of Makarska. Fortunately, no one was injured and after the fire, the 34-meter-long ship sank to the bottom of its home port.
– We are about to finish, let’s say, rescuing a sunken ship from the sea. We have a jack-up platform and a ro-ro vessel that can lift it onto its hull and bring it to the editing room, the captain said Ante BilicMakarska Obala Company.
Makarani and their guests are satisfied because the ocean is not polluted.
– Captain Bilic pointed out that there were 6.5 tons of fuel on board the yacht and the fuel remained sealed with no leakage.
The burned Acceptus was until recently a luxury motor yacht with 5 cabins for 12 passengers. The price for a weekly charter is an eye-watering 90,000 euros. However, tonight the wreckage will be taken to the cutting yard and the costs of its removal will be borne by the owner. The coastal area of the Makarska port where the burned yacht is moored remains closed to pedestrians and police are on duty.
