Macau’s average hotel occupancy rate rises slightly in May

The average occupancy rate of Macau hotels increased slightly from April to May, according to the latest data from Macau’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC in Portuguese).

According to the data, the occupancy rate in May was 83.6%compared to 83.3% last month.

In terms of star rating, the occupancy rates of five-star, four-star and three-star hotels remained basically unchanged, at 85.3%, 79.7% and 80.8% respectively.

The total number of guests in hotel establishments in May was 1,196,000, a slight increase from 1,159,000 in April.

Of these, about 870,000 tourists came from mainland China, compared with 823,000 in April, and 164,000 tourists came from Hong Kong, down from 165,000 the previous month. Only 88,000 tourists came from outside Greater China.

The average length of stay remained unchanged at 1.6 nights.
