On Thursday, the Ministry of Health presented the staff of the Republican Panevėžys Hospital with its new manager – contest winner Mindaugas Vaitkės, who until now served as deputy medical director of the health institution.
The appointed Minister of Health Aurimas Pečkauskas stressed that the importance of regional hospitals is growing day by day – and the Panevěž Republican Hospital is no exception.
“The regional hospital benefits from significant investments in the Department of Infectious Diseases, Resuscitation, Emergency and many other departments. With investment comes responsibility and leadership. Mindaugas Vatkus is a relatively young leader, but he has already gained many years of experience in management work – I am sure this will help him a lot in handling greater responsibilities and tasks. The new manager has set the goal of developing not only Panevėžys Hospital, but also regional cooperation so that the state’s investments will bring the greatest benefits to patients, hospital staff and surrounding healthcare institutions,” says A. Pečkauskas.
“In order to ensure high-quality and affordable personal healthcare services for patients in Panevėžys and the rest of Lithuania, my first priority as Director of the Republican Hospital Panevėžys is our employees. It is important to realize that the success of hospital operations depends on a professional and dedicated team, so one of the main goals is to attract qualified specialist doctors and nurses to join the Republican Panevėžys Hospital team”, says M. Vaitkus.
The new manager stressed that the medical institution is ready for major changes – the construction of a new infectious disease hospital, the reconstruction of reception, emergency and resuscitation departments are all waiting.
“I know that we can only achieve these ambitious goals if we work harmoniously and together as one with the entire team. I have been working in this organization for seven years now and I know most of the team members personally – they are dedicated, reliable and caring colleagues with whom we can achieve outstanding results”, says M. Vaitkus.
The new director of the Republican Panevėžys Hospital has obtained the professional qualification of a pulmonologist and a doctorate in biomedicine from the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences.
He has been working at the hospital since 2016 and was appointed deputy director of the Department of Medicine in 2017.
Panevėžys Republican Hospital is the largest medical institution in northeastern Lithuania, with five clinics and more than 2,000 employees.
The hospital’s inpatient facilities serve approximately 30,000 patients each year. About 300,000 patients apply for outpatient personal health care services. People.
