On the 2nd of this month, when the team went to the match against Montpellier, midfielder Lucas Silva posted a text on social networks, saying that he was expelled from the Marseille Olympic bus by the club’s president, Vicente Labrunne. This fact was strongly denied by the media on Wednesday evening. According to French media reports, Labrunne was annoyed with the Brazilian, who agreed to move to Anderlecht in Belgium. The midfielder gave his version of events, explaining that he did not go to the match with his teammates precisely because of the possibility of negotiations.

– On the last day of the transfer window (February 1), I was travelling with the team on the bus and OM advised me to stay in Marseille due to ongoing negotiations with European clubs as I might need to travel at any time. I was never kicked off the bus as reported in some media, Lucas said. He published the article in Spanish and French.

Lucas Silva, considered one of the greatest names in Brazilian football in recent years, was transferred from Spain to Real Madrid by Cruzeiro last year for 15 million euros (about 45 million reais at the time). As Madrid had no space, it was not ceded to France until June this year. On Wednesday, Olimpico coach Michel said that the player had received an offer from a Brazilian club and could soon return to Brazil. Despite this, Lucas said he would fulfill his contract until the end of the season.

– Other Brazilian clubs are indeed interested, and I am grateful for that. However, returning to Brazil at this time is not part of Real Madrid’s plans, nor of my career plans. I am grateful to Real Madrid for the support I received during this process – he said.

Check out the text posted by Lucas Silva:

“At the beginning of the 2015/2016 season, I was loaned to OM by Real Madrid due to the excessive number of athletes from outside the club. At the time, there were proposals from other clubs. I decided to join OM because of the interest of the chairman and the coach.

My dedication to the club has been integral since I arrived. For example, I personally decided to work with one of the best fitness coaches in Brazil, who has brought me to the best physical condition of my career.

On the last day of the transfer window, I travelled with the team on the bus and due to ongoing negotiations with European clubs, OM advised me to stay in Marseille as I might need to travel at any time. I was never kicked off the bus as some media reported.

I was notified of the proposal I received after my agent assured me that all my interests would be protected. I decided to stay with OM because I believe we must honor the commitments we make. In addition, I am an athlete who thrives on great challenges and I have a habit of facing challenges and winning them.

“It is true that there is interest from various Brazilian clubs, and I am grateful for that. However, returning to Brazil at this time is not part of Real Madrid’s plans, nor is it part of my career plans. I am grateful to Real Madrid for the support I have received during this process.”

I would like to take this opportunity to confirm that I will remain with OM until the end of my contract with the club.

I am calm and aware of my commitment to the club. I am grateful to my coaches and colleagues who have always supported me.

I am also very grateful to the OM fans for the warm welcome they have given me in Marseille. Rest assured that my commitment to the club is total and I will spare no effort to help the team.”
