On August 6, 2024, Lok Chumteav Neak Oknha Mao Chamnan, Chairman of the Khmer Artists Association, led the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Senior Advisors of the Khmer Artists Association to pay a courtesy visit to His Excellency Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, Chairman of the Cambodian Scouts Association.
First, Lok Chumteav Neak Oknha Mao Chamnan, President of the Khmer Artists Association, thanked Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet for hosting the meeting. Then, Lok Chumteav Neak Oknha Mao Chamnan, President of the Khmer Artists Association, briefed Cambodian First Lady Lok Chumteav on the history of the association since its establishment in 2006, including the recent achievements during its sixth term. Lok Chumteav Neak Oknha has been leading the association for more than 3 months.
These include: organizing the composition of the Association’s Board of Directors, Executive Committee and working groups, amending the Association’s Articles of Association, mobilizing human resources from interdepartmental and budgetary resources to support the Association’s activities. In terms of activities, the Association has organized and participated in many socio-cultural events, recently leading about 200 artists to celebrate the grand opening of the “Prek Chik Fun Techo” site, including charity events to facilitate the lives of elderly artists and the loss of performance ability is a constant practice.
In addition, the association’s chairman, Lok Chumteav Neak Oknha, also introduced the association’s participation in a series of activities to promote national art and culture related to tourism.

Her Excellency the Doctor also wanted to praise the initiative of establishing this Artists Association during the past term, as it is easy to establish an association or organization, but it is difficult to maintain and manage activities.
However, Dr. Lok Chumteav also gave many suggestions, such as:
First, Lok Chumteav Bandith encouraged the Cambodia Artists Association to expand its scope and collect unregistered artists as members so that they can easily understand their well-being and especially help each other.
Secondly, in line with the President’s past recommendations, continue to contribute to the promotion of the nation’s arts and cultural sector, particularly the protection and preservation of cultural and art forms facing challenges, by working to protect these resources.
Thirdly, Lok Chumteav also asked the association to think about the next generation, the successors, because the artists of the previous generation are older. There are some art forms that are scarce and you want to continue to learn. So think about what should be done for the children of artists who want to carry on their parents’ legacy.
Fourth. The Lok Chumteav Bandith asks all artists to become goodwill ambassadors and promote the country’s arts, culture and tourism by dressing in clothes relevant to tourist spots.
Fifth, Lok Chumteav advises artists to be cautious in their creations and avoid creating false content that pollutes society, affects social order, and especially religious beliefs. That is, to set an example for supporters to promote morality, virtue, truth, etc.
Sixth, Dr. Lok Chumteav Chumteav encouraged the Cambodian Artists Association to reach out to the private sector, especially traditional arts, which can promote and help artists’ livelihoods.
Finally! His Excellency Dr. Pich Chanmony also welcomed the request of Duke Mao Chamnan, President of the Khmer Artists Association, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Khmer Artists Association and the Cambodian Scouts Association and the Samdech Techo Volunteer Doctors Association (TYDA) for future cooperation in social, artistic, cultural and humanitarian fields.
