Locarno Pro First Look reveals ongoing projects in Spain

First Look, Work in Progress Locarno Film FestivalThe Locarno Trade Fair Industry sector has revealed six projects that are due to be completed soon and will be the focus of the 13th edition of the trade fairday This year’s edition.

These promising feature film projects come from Spain, this year’s focus country. The event will be held from August 9 to 11 during the Locarno International Film Festival in partnership with the Spanish Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts ICAA and the Spanish Trade and Investment Agency ICEX.

“The selected projects, none of which currently have sales representation, were created by Xavier Garcia Puerto (Tallinn Black Nights Festival/REC – International Tarragona Film Festival), Susana Santos Rodríguez (IndieLisboa/IFFR) and Cecilia Barrion Evo (ECAM – Madrid Film and Audiovisual School),” said the organizers. The projects will be submitted by the producers or filmmakers to accredited industry professionals.

An international jury will award several prizes, including Venice International Film Critics WeekIstanbul Film Festival Director Kerem Ayan and Mercedes Martínez-Abarca, programmers Rotterdam International Film Festival.

Antaviana Movie First look The awards cover post-production services, worth up to €50,000 ($54,076); a €5,000 ($5,407) prize from post-production company Laserfilm cine y vídeo for work such as subtitling, audio description and transcription; a €45,000 ($48,669) prize from Music Library and Sound Effects/Acorde for music supervision services; a €5,600 ($6,056) prize from industry magazine Le Film Français for advertising space; and the Jannuzzi Smith Award, which includes an international poster design worth €10,000 ($10,815).

The winners will be announced at the Locarno Pro Awards Ceremony on Sunday, August 11th.

Raquette

Producers: Paloma Mora (TV ON Producciones, ADMIRABLE FILMS), Marc Muñoz (lamalanga Audiovideo Productions)

Description: Teresa Pra, an intersex child assigned female at birth, struggles to gain recognition as a man in ancient Spanish society in the early and mid-20th century, where she is persecuted by guerrillas, bandits, and the Civil Guard.

Still Life with Ghosts

Producers: Alejandra Mora (Quatre Films Audiovideoes SL), Alicia Yubero (Beware of the Dog), Snezana van Houwelingen (This and That), Roberto Butragueño (Sideral)

Description: The ghosts and humans of the small town of La Mancha are troubled by life and death troubles and will do anything they can to end their plight, and will not hesitate to implement extreme and desperate plans to achieve this goal.

Another summer dream

describe: Another summer dream The film tells the story of a broken-down woman’s encounter with a ruined city, exploring the relationship between the space we live in and ourselves, and reflecting on the death and survival of the city.

describe: Mare Director Ari (32) and her partner Anna (41) take the audience on an intimate and emotional journey as they try to have a child. Anna was the first to start assisted reproduction, while Ariadna documented every step with her camera.

Description: 1972: The ecclesiastical court of Santiago de Compostela convicts Ferrol shellfish collector Sagrario Fra of adultery. Like a bird flying between heaven and earth, Antigone lurks within Sagrario.

Description: Julia escapes to Glasgow to start over, but years later, she’s fallen on hard times. During the day, she works as a photographer; at night, she washes dishes. As the disease takes hold, Julia begins to delve into her and the city’s past, recalling a mysterious group that salvages items from the river, and Shubham, an Indian boy who, like her, has come here in search of a new start.
