Lindita Nikolla resigns as speaker after three years in parliamentary leadership.

The news of her resignation was revealed by Lindita Nikolla herself at the last plenary session of the session, citing her health condition as preventing her from continuing to perform her duties.
Linda Nicola also spoke about the undeserved verbal attacks: “Fortunately, in addition to the dramatic political behavior in this hall, I have also received some undeserved verbal attacks. When working off-camera, I can feel very well the respect you all have for all of me. Yours I thank you all, and I hope you all have the same scars as me.”
“Today, my three-year term in Parliament comes to an end due to health conditions that prevent me from holding public office.
I do my best every day to ensure that the work of the General Assembly proceeds smoothly and does not offend anyone present.
If I have offended anyone, I apologize. If at some point I was forced to take the side of reason, I did not do so as a party, but as the first of 140 equals. Beyond the dramatic political act, I left with a good sense of respect.
I thank you all, I hope everyone has the same scars as me. I thank the management of the Congress. I sincerely wish you motivation and representation of Albanians. Finally I pray that no one will speculate that I will inevitably leave, nothing is more humane than the impossibility that led me to this action.
I thank the voters for giving me the opportunity to attend the Congress. I will have more time to spend with my family and voters. He now thanks Prime Minister Rama and my friends. I wish you and your family all the best. Thank you all”, Linda Nicola said.
Lindita Nicoles delivering a speech
I am speaking at the end of the sixth session of the tenth legislative body of the Albanian Parliament to share a message with you and out of respect for this institution I think I should look you in the eyes.
Dear colleagues from the majority party in Parliament and dear colleagues from the opposition party in Parliament!
Today, my three-year term as President of Parliament is coming to an end due to personal health conditions, which prevent me from fulfilling the high duties of the second-in-command of the State under the arduous demands and commitment that this obligation requires.
I do my utmost every day to ensure the smooth conduct of the business of this Parliament. I have no vengeance against anybody in this room.
If I left a different impression on someone, I assure them that was never my intention.
If I have offended anyone unintentionally, I apologize.
If at certain moments, which were not easy at all, when this Chamber experienced undeserved situations of conflict, I was forced to stand on the side of reason and of the rules of this Parliament, I did so not as a party but as the first of 140 Members of Parliament who are equal.
Fortunately, aside from the theatrical political behavior in this hall, where I have also received some undeserved verbal attacks, I am left with a sense of good respect from all of you in my work off-camera. I thank you all, and I hope you all get the same scars from me.
I would like to thank the entire Parliamentary administration for the excellent work they do every day in supporting Parliament’s activities.
I would like to thank all support services staff for their dedication to their work.
I sincerely wish you all the motivation, determination and good health to continue your noble mission on behalf of the Albanians. Finally, I pray that this unwelcome but inevitable departure of mine will not be subject to any political speculation, because I believe that nothing can be more human than the impossibility that forces me to take this step.
I am very grateful and deeply thankful to my colleagues for the trust they have placed in me in this position, to the voters who voted for me to represent them in Parliament, where I will do my best until the end, and to my family, who have stood by me. Always stood by me.
Now I will have more time and opportunity to be closer to my family and constituents.
Special thanks to our President and Prime Minister, and my now old comrade-in-arms Edi Rama, without whose trust and everlasting support I would not have traveled so far since I took over the leadership of the First Administrative Unit of Tirana 17 years ago.
I wish you and your family all the best. Thank you again.
