Councillor Lam Kin-kang criticised the government for not properly supervising the operation of a recently bankrupt TV station license, sparking public concern for the workers.

The representative told Click2Macau newspaper that for a long time, the salaries of MASTV in Macau and Taipei were pending, but the former chief executive Chui Sai On renewed the license for another 15 years. The representative also recalled that according to the operating license, MASTV should have opened five channels, but the plan never materialized. Therefore, Lam concluded that the Post and Telecommunications Bureau did not assume the proper regulatory role to ensure that the channels were financially capable, and the Office of Social Communications did not supervise MASTV to complete the projects in accordance with the license.

The representatives hope that the executive branch will explain to the public whether it will revoke the license and franchise rights of the Coloane land where MASTV is located, and whether it will impose penalties on the TV station for not complying with the provisions of the franchise contract.
