Letter:

So the Prime Minister is now comparing 3400 signatures on a petition telling the government that his people are unhappy with the water situation. How demeaning of his own people.

The fact is, Prime Minister, you are missing the point, and it is the politicians who are missing the point. You are not listening to your constituents. You mentioned Ukraine, Gaza and New Caledonia (France). Did politicians like Putin, Macron and the Gazans ask or seek advice? No. Prime Minister, you are not on the world stage, so start listening.

The people are using their legal constitutional rights to voice their grievances to you. And you respond by demeaning them. Someone petitioned you earlier saying that the pipes needed to be upgraded because 70% of the collected water was lost due to leaks and the government responded by saying “nothing is free, you have to pay for it eventually”. No one else in the world has free water and we want to be like them. Once again, the politicians are ignoring the people.

How can you apply corporate magic to a Crown entity with 4 employees, a truck full of inner tubes and 10 air intakes and grow it into an entity with 40 employees, several trucks and 10 air intakes. Same water supply.

Too many MBAs?

Notes to Editors – Prime Minister Mark Brown was given his chance to reply yesterday. Brown said he was about to begin chairing a meeting of Forum foreign ministers in Suva, Fiji, and asked readers of the report to inform him that he did not have time to respond to the anonymous letter.
