President Lazarus Chakwera, who was the president of the Assemblies of God in Malawi, is a shepherd of God’s flock and has a higher calling – leadership.
However, his tenure has been turbulent, with Malawi facing unprecedented challenges – cholera, cyclones and now the typhus virus.
Just as Jonah ran away from God’s command to prophesy to Nineveh, Chakwera seemed to be running away from God’s mission.
The storm that hit Malawi was a wake-up call that he must answer God’s call.
Just as Jonah’s attempted escape led to chaos on the ship, Chakwera’s unwillingness to lead with godly wisdom plunged Malawi into crisis.
The swallowing of Jonah’s fish symbolizes the consequences of disobeying God’s will.
Chakwera must submit to God’s will, just as Jonah eventually did. He must seek divine guidance to navigate Malawi’s difficult situation.
The people of Malawia are in desperate need of a leader who can answer God’s call and bring peace and prosperity to the country.
Will Chakwera answer the call? Or will the storm continue to rage? The choice is his, however, in 2025 the people of Malaw will be ready to return Chakwera to the Assemblies of God Malawi
