After the judge delivered his verdict, Baldwin cried and hugged his defense attorney.

The judge reached that conclusion Friday after sending the jury home and ruling on a motion by Baldwin’s defense attorneys to dismiss the case.

The judge now agrees with them that police withheld evidence related to ammunition from the weapon Baldwin used to shoot cinematographer Halina Hutchins.

The controversy revolved around who was responsible for the ammunition that ended up in the weapons that ended up on the movie set.

The issue of ammunition came up in court earlier Friday when crime scene technician Marissa Poppel took the stand. During questions, Baldwin’s attorney, Alex Spiro, said Poppel and other authorities were too close to the film’s munitions supplier, Seth Kenney, and therefore did not adequately investigate whether Kenney was responsible for the deadly munitions that arrived on the set.
