Track cyclists Harrie Lavreysen and Jeffrey Hoogland will also compete again in the keirin, an event where riders use a pace motor to accelerate to the finish line. Lavreysen has already won gold medals in the team sprint and the individual sprint. He also hopes to see himself win three gold medals at this Olympics. Lavreysen and Hoogland’s quarterfinals started with 11.29.
The women will compete in the semifinals of the track cycling sprint and may even make the final. Maike van Duin competes in the omnium, a combined event that includes sprinting, pursuit and time trial.
