A landslide caused by heavy rain in northern Vietnam buried a truck, killing at least seven people, Vietnamese state media reported on Saturday (July 13).

Northern Vietnam has entered the rainy season, with heavy rains and flooding, making travel on mountain roads very dangerous.

The 16-seater van was hit by a landslide while travelling through North America district in Ha Giang province at around 4am local time (5am Singapore time), state media reported.

Rescuers have found seven bodies, including a boy.

Six other people were found alive and taken to nearby hospitals, while rescue workers were searching for the missing, state media reported.
