KUWAIT CITY, Aug 16: A Kuwaiti has sued an Arab national who defrauded him into building a “dream house” before switching off his phone and absconding with the money.
The Kuwaiti claimed in his complaint that he had reached an agreement with the contractor to build his dream house and hand over the keys within a short period of time. However, the defendant insisted on receiving a large sum of money upfront to speed up the work.
The Kuwaiti, distressed at having lost the money to build his dream home, explained that he had given the contractor 10,000 dinars as a deposit. To his dismay, the contractor then requested a delay in the construction work citing a shortage of workers and continued to make excuses for more than a month. This led the Kuwaiti to demand a refund.
He added that the contractor did not answer his calls for three days and subsequently switched off his phone and blocked him on WhatsApp, leaving him with no option but to file a case for breach of trust and theft against the contractor.
