KT and Ansan City join hands to build high-tech robot ecosystem

Ansan City announced at the first meeting room of the city hall on the 5th that it had signed a business agreement with KT and Hanyang University Erica Campus to promote the high-tech robotics industry and digital high-tech industrial complex in Ansan Science Valley (ASV) located in the Gyeonggi-do Free Economic Zone.

The agreement was led by Ansan City, and the organizations shared a common vision for the designation of the ASV Free Economic Zone, which is centered on high-tech robots and manufacturing, and reached a consensus on the creation of a high-tech robot innovation ecosystem to promote manufacturing innovation. The Banwol and Sihwa National Industrial Parks were realized. Under the agreement, Ansan City will be responsible for promoting the designation of the economic free zone and comprehensively promoting digital transformation within the industrial park. Hanyang University is responsible for cultivating core talents in the robotics industry and attracting a center for vocational education in robotics. KT supports the ASV robotics ecosystem and the robot artificial BroadCast Unitedligence transformation (AX). The signing ceremony was attended by Ansan Mayor Lee Min-geun, Hanyang University Erica Campus Vice President Baek Dong-hyun, and KT Western Corporate Account Division Head Lee Sung-hwan. Mayor Lee Min-geun said, “I am deeply encouraged that KT, a leading platform company in the robotics industry, has joined the ASV Free Economic Zone vision,” and added, “Together with Hanyang University Erica Campus, which cultivates key talents, human resources in the robotics industry are the cornerstone of leading the Korean robotics industry, he said.


General Manager Lee Seong-hwan said, “It is meaningful to be able to participate in Ansan City’s leap into Korea’s representative robot city.” He added, “Based on KT’s AICT (AI+ICT) capabilities such as robotics and communications, we will play various roles in creating a cutting-edge robotics innovation ecosystem.” “We will explore it and pursue it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ansan City plans to apply to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy for “additional designation of the Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone” together with the Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Administration in the second half of this year (July to December), and the final designation will be determined around March next year.
