Monuments commemorating the fight against the Soviet Union are protected by law.

The fate of one such facility in the Panevezh district, which the partisans once nicknamed the Kremlin, could be decided as soon as next week.

The forest camp established eighty years ago in the Pashlia forest near Krekenawa served the freedom fighters for a short time – just a few months.

The Soviets blew up the abandoned land, but they never found the weapons cache a little further away.
