Kuwait City, August 8: Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) is currently upgrading its Jurassic facility to operate at full capacity while continuing Jurassic drilling operations, according to people familiar with the matter. The company aims to increase non-associated gas production capacity from 570 million cubic feet per day to nearly 1 billion cubic feet per day in the next few years, thereby reducing Kuwait’s dependence on natural gas imports. Progress has been made on this goal, with the company increasing non-associated gas production to more than 600 million cubic feet per day by early 2024.
The Jurassic 4 and 5 fields are expected to be commissioned in late 2023 and early 2024, respectively, adding about 150 million cubic feet per day of additional production to the company’s non-associated gas processing. Sources said KOC has a well-thought-out plan to improve all oil and gas production mechanisms by relying on the latest digital technologies to increase production to the maximum. They said KOC relies on several advanced programs implemented in the drilling field to increase production capacity and improve the performance of discovered reservoirs, which has helped increase the company’s crude oil production.
