“The roads there are very bad. When it rains, it is not easy to go there. During the rainy season, we suffer from traffic jams caused by mud. When it rains, we cannot work on the road between Kintinian and Kamatiguiya. The water really wears us out,” explains Paul Compaoré, a Burkinabe national.
Mamadou Billo Sow fears the route will deteriorate further. “To be honest, we have suffered a lot. The road there is just too bad. When it rains, all users suffer and fear takes over. We ask the government to help us,” he said.
When asked, Sogna Camara narrated her unfortunate experience. “It is not easy to practice this route during the rainy season because of the potholes and mud. The mud and water stained our clothes before reaching the destination. The suffering is indeed great. We ask the authorities to repair our road,” she asked.
Nambe Kamara agrees. “When you take the Kintinian-Camatigia road, your kidneys hurt in this rainy season. My kidneys really hurt when I do this. All parts of this road have degraded and it is difficult to even walk. It is an obstacle course to escape the mud. If we don’t take this road, we cannot maintain our daily lives. Our children are left behind, suffering and even falling ill because of the bad road conditions. We ask the authorities at all levels to think about us, otherwise the suffering will be too great,” she advises.
