August 19, 2024 (Khartoum) – The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) intensified its shelling of Omdurman from Bahri, Khartoum on Monday, firing 14 shells at the Al-Shahinab area west of the Nile River.

In recent days, the Rapid Security Forces have focused their attacks on Omdurman, using mortars and Katyusha rockets, causing severe damage to infrastructure, including the Al-Shuhada transport station.

Bahri sources told Sudan Tribune that the RSF has redeployed artillery that was previously used to target areas around the Bahri Signal Corps to shell Omdurman. The RSF was observed transporting artillery in trucks and deploying more artillery north of Bahri in Khartoum to target rural areas north of Omdurman.

Continued shelling in northern Bari has hampered residents’ efforts to transport vital food supplies across the Nile from Omdurman, and residents have had to use boats to transport the sick to the west bank of the Nile for medical treatment.

The source also pointed out that artillery fire had been moved from Khartoum to Bahairi, indicating a shift in the strategy of the Rapid Security Forces to intensify attacks on Omdurman after government forces took control of most of the area.

Sporadic clashes between Indian troops and the Rapid Security Forces continued in several areas west of Omdurman, but neither side made significant gains.
