A college student was killed in a gunfight with two robbers near New Sabzi Mandi on the highway KarachiThe incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning and during the process, the student managed to kill two suspected robbers.

According to the police report, Sheikh Muhammad Nihal, 22, and his uncle Sheikh Muhammad Ayaz were returning from their home in North Nazimabad on a motorcycle after attending a dinner party on Tuesday evening.
SITE-Superhighway SHO Zulfiqar Bhangwar said they were stopped by two armed men on a motorcycle near Jamali Pul. However, Sheikh Nihar, who had a gun license, pulled out his weapon and started shooting. The robbers also opened fire. The robbers also opened fire and in the exchange of fire, the two suspects along with Nihal and his uncle sustained gunshot injuries.
Police said the suspect and Nihal died on the spot. The bodies of the dead and injured were taken to Abbas Shaheed Hospital where doctors said Sheikh Ayaz’s condition was stable as he had sustained a gunshot wound in his hand.
It should be added that Nihal is a student of Nazeer Husain’s Department of Architecture University. He is the only son of his parents.
Later in the day, amid moving scenes, funeral prayers were held at the local mosque in North Nazimabad.
Many people attended the funeral and expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased. Among them, the leader of the opposition in the Sindh Provincial Assembly, Ali Khurshidi, also attended the funeral and expressed concern about the surge in killings by armed robbers.
He asked the governor and other authorities to take stringent measures to control the rising crime rate on the streets of Karachi.
So far, in the first five months of this year, a total of 68 citizens have been shot dead by robbers in Karachi. But the police said the number of people killed by robbers was 52.
