Kankan: Install road signs to facilitate road traffic

This is the first time. The road traffic in the town of Cancan is now well signposted. This is the result of a collaboration between the organizers of this year’s Mamaya, Sèdè Dandya 4, and the Mamou Technical Institute. As reported by the Guineemati.com team based in the county, the official handover took place yesterday (Sunday, June 23, 2024) at the Komarala Loisirs roundabout in the presence of the municipal authorities.

Will the anarchy of road traffic soon come to an end? From now on, at the city’s main intersections, users must learn to respect traffic lights. For the first time in the history of the growing city, these lights are being experienced, helping to reduce accidents and improve traffic flow.

This activity is the work of Sèdè Dandya No. 4, the organizer of Mamaya in Kankan last year and this year 2024. According to Mohammed Kaba, chairman of the Technical and Strategic Committee of the aforementioned Sèdè, this action is included in their plans.

“This is one of the 13 Sèdè projects. We thought it would be useful to enable the traffic lights during the Tabaski holidays, but there were delays from a technical point of view. This was a test project because the costs were a bit daunting. Since it is the roundest and most coveted intersection in Cancan, we started there,” explains Mohammed Kaba.

The traffic lights help regulate traffic. There are three types: red, yellow and green. According to Dr. Hamidou Bari, director of the Mamou Institute of Technology, where they were designed, they are equipped with advanced technology.

“These lights provide information to the user, they have a specificity because the colors are those of the national flag. There are also lights with timers and advanced technology that give the meaning obligation. That is, a mandate to no longer go in one direction. So it is a technology that requires marking. With a call, you can give more time to traffic in one direction than in another. So the fire is part of the community service,” he said.

The installation of these traffic lights has brought relief to the citizens of Nabaya. It is this sense of satisfaction that has driven the head of the special delegation in Kankan, Alfan Moussa Coulibaly, to make an appeal to the people.

“We are happy with the introduction of these traffic lights, thanks to Sèdè Dandya 4 and the Mamou Technological Institute. We are happy because it is the first time that it has come to Konkan and it is a start. We hope that this continues at other intersections in the city. We ask all users to take care of this jewel. Everyone should be vigilant,” he said.
