Kamala Harris warns of danger of Donald Trump: ‘He wants to be a dictator’

The current vice president of the United States had a powerful description of the former Republican president seeking a return to the White House.

“Donald Trump wants to be a dictator. (…) He wants to dismantle NATO, he encouraged Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine. I will not be friends with tyrants. There are democracies and there are tyrannies, and I know where the United States should be on the side,” Harris said.

The candidate made it clear that she wants a country without differences or social divisions and that she will work to strengthen the country’s middle class.

“On behalf of the people, on behalf of every American, regardless of party, race, gender or the language their grandmother used, I accept your nomination,” the 59-year-old vice president said. “A New Path.”

“I will be a president who unites us to achieve our greatest aspirations,” she promised in her first major public event before the American people.

In addition, he made it clear that the consequences of Republican leaders returning to Washington “would be severe.”

“Donald Trump is a serious man. And his return to the White House is serious. When the Capitol was attacked, he did nothing to defend it; when he was unelected in the last presidential election, he tried to hide his votes. We can’t forget that. He was also convicted of bribery. We can’t forget that,” Harris said.

Harris, wearing a navy blue suit, the color of the Democratic Party, thanked President Joe Biden for endorsing her candidacy after he dropped his bid for reelection.

“My path to getting here was, without a doubt, unexpected,” Harris said before more than 5,000 delegates from the party that nominated her. “But I am not unfamiliar.”

Harris paid tribute to her parents as defining forces in her career, and spoke of her birthplace of California, where she is the daughter of immigrants (her father is Jamaican and her mother is Indian).

The Vice President had a great night at the United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks.
