By Dr. Father Blessing

Ladies and gentlemen, UTM party leaders and all supporters, my fellow Malawians.

Today, I am delighted to speak for the first time as a full member of the UTM leadership team.

Supporters of the party wherever you are; like in Kameme in Chitipa district, Chauma in Nkhotakota, Fatima in Nsanje district and Kamwendo in Mchinji, I am glad that I have been received with love.

Although Dr. Chilima, then Vice President, has left us, Malawi will never be the same because the seeds he sowed will always bear fruit.

The seeds of dedication encourage Malawians to not be afraid, not get tired, not be weak no matter how tough the weather.

So I appeal to all Malawians of good will who wish to move beyond the political issues, UTM is your gateway. Let us join hands and continue the work that has already been started.

The UTM is not just a political party, but a stable coalition that has grown up in a world of discrimination, lies and deception, the growth of poverty and the lack of respect for the rights of different people.

Therefore, the decision to join the UTM party was made from my heart and I believe that the path I am taking is the only one that can overcome the difficulties that Malawi is going through.

Despite the noise and chaos in this country’s politics, we have decided to move forward to ensure that this country’s future is bright.

Just a warning, the journey will not be easy; it will be arduous, but if we work together and put our best foot forward, we can build this country.

I pray that you will be filled with peace and tranquility in UTM. The party has a strong leadership that encourages compromise and negotiation when differences arise.

These are the fruits and seeds sown by our late leader, Dr. Chilima.

Young men and women, let us ensure that we follow leadership that talks about building this country, not just rumors.

Stand where there is justice and not empty noise, because you are the ones who hold the key to a prosperous Malawi that is friendly to all ethnic groups.

As we yearn for change, let us breathe new life into our vision through unity and commitment. Let us light the lamp of hope, for the possibilities are there.

I firmly believe that as long as we work together, we will be able to overcome difficulties. No matter how dark the sky is, we must die.

I know there have been a lot of rumors about my possible joining UTM, and some people are concerned about my intentions.

I come to assure you that if I want the late Thoros, let us love each other, I, like DK, always love peace and tranquility.

So I ask that if some people have spoken badly, let us forgive each other and work together to save Malawi from the furnace we are going through.

I believe that if we join hands, we will undoubtedly take over the government next year.
Although I chose to quietly quit the DPP, I saw other people gave different reasons for my quitting the DPP; excuses of insulting, humiliating, making fun of my name.

Even so, in my character, I chose to forgive them, and I continued to move forward under the guidance of the Lord’s hand.

I also forgive those who spoke my name in UTM and I pray to UTM that we continue to be united and not be divided by the lies of jealous people who do not wish us well.

Even though some of the stories were painful and completely tarnished my reputation, I decided that time would reveal my innocence and the truth would be revealed.

Now is the most important time for the entire country to come together to solve the problems we face.

If our politics remains a solution, then go on, the world will not change and we will continue to cry into smoke. Then, our crying will be our decision.

But I think that as a country, if we stand together and join hands with UTM, we will overcome all these suffocating problems and we will move forward.

Let us build on this solidarity, understanding each other as we walk through deserts of all kinds, suffocating but with the conviction that if we win this battle, there will be a bright future for all of us.
