As part of German Week 2023, the DW Academy will screen the film “Keepers of Truth” at the Goethe-Institut on September 26, followed by a panel discussion on the role of journalism in democracy. The panel will feature Can Dündar, a well-known Turkish journalist who was editor-in-chief of Cumhuriyet newspaper until August 2016.
Dingdal has written for several newspapers, produced several TV shows for TRT World and several private channels such as CNN Türk and NTV, and published more than 20 books. Dingdal has received the International Press Freedom Award from the Committee to Protect Journalists. He has been living in exile in Germany since June 2016, with a warrant for his arrest issued in Turkey. He is currently the editor-in-chief of Özgürüz, an Internet radio station run by the German non-profit newsroom Correctiv.
The panel discussion will start at 18:30 and last until 19:00 on Tuesday.
