Johor blast drill triggers landslide, 2 police officers in intensive care

Two policemen were seriously injured when a bomb detonation practice went awry in Kluang district, Johor, on Tuesday (Aug 27), triggering a landslide.

According to the New Straits Times, the incident took place at a residential area in Taman Sri Lambak at around 3pm.

The police were rescued and taken to the intensive care unit of a nearby hospital. They reportedly suffered serious injuries, including a broken hip and internal bleeding.

Daily Metro published the names of the victims, saying that both victims were members of the bomb disposal department, namely Corporal Abd Halim Zainal and Corporal Muhammad Faruuqi Shamsary.

Johor police chief M Kumar confirmed the incident and said an official statement would be issued soon.
