This is the first and last song he created for his first EP, a work that took him several years and now he shares it with you under the title “Nothing real important”. In this new chapter of his career, Ecuadorian John Vera explores a fresh and dynamic sound, with more pop and Anglo elements than he has presented before. “After 50 demos, I chose the final songs, but I missed a song that could be the opening song, tell the story of everything, tell the album,” the actor also mentioned.
“Cielo” marks the premiere of a work in which Vera will show her most daring and mature side. Proof of this evolution is the story he tells in the single, which is based on his own personal experience in a recent relationship.
“I wrote this song at a really good time and nobody could take that inspiration away from me. It was really nice to commit myself to a full relationship for the first time and be able to go so far, which is what the song is about: discovering mysticism and magic,” he reveals of the emotional bond he maintained but which sadly ended.
Vera, who lives in Miami, released the song. “John’s sky was full of life. In the tension of the premiere, I saw a sunset and a rainbow, very beautiful, and I felt that all of this was the sign behind it,” confesses the Guayaquil native, who collaborated with Juan Shool, Ibere Forte and Gabriel González on this song.

With more than 10,000 views on YouTube (at press time), Cielo’s audiovisual work was recorded in La Candelaria, Bogota (Colombia). “We made three videos in one day. In the end, this EP is about freedom, about removing taboos, about feeling comfortable with yourself. It was a challenge for me because I wore very little clothing, shared a very small bed with 12 models, and found comfort and sensuality in this space,” he details.
Social network
On her Instagram account, where she has 1.2 million followers, Vera has deleted and/or archived the rest of her publications. Currently there are only 6 posts in his feed. “I want to focus 100% on the music. This is an exercise for me to break away from the past. I love it, everything we’ve been through is incredible, but for me it’s really exciting to take the album to this new stage and downplay the importance of the Internet, digital and everything that limits us to do what we want to do,” he said.
Nothing Matter does have 6 tracks, which the Ecuadorian defines as his “most precious treasures”. “I wanted to make this album a little international, between Mexico, Colombia and my native Ecuador. That’s what this album is about: freedom and the exploration of new genres and sounds. There are no rules. I allowed myself to play and have fun,” he adds.
More Projects
Vera, who starred in the musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last year (he played Willy Wonka under the direction of Jaime Tamariz), has taken a break from local acting roles. “This week I had to say no to a project in Ecuador, I was very excited about Ecuavisa, because I wanted to focus all my energy on this album because it means so much, that’s why I had to stop all my acting and web projects. “Now I want to focus 100% on music,” he said.
