There has been enough golf in Croke recently. Week, but the Open Steinullar Championship was held on Saturday 3rd August, August 8th in pleasant weather. The Hard Wok High Handicap Championship was held on Tuesday and the Esju Championship was held yesterday, Wednesday. The activities never end, as there is a sponsored tournament with Anna Karen today and the Norðurlands Championship for young golfers on Sunday.

At the Open Steinullar tournament, participation was so good that 64 golfers signed up to play that the tournament was completely sold out. There are three categories, with and without obstacles. The open group will have a handicap competition, and the top 10 will be awarded prizes. The ranking is as follows:

  1. Hlynur Freyr Einarsson GSS, 40 points.

  2. Guðmundur Ragnar Sverrisson, Brautarholt Golf Club, 39 points.

  3. Gudmundur Ragnarsson GSS, 37 points

  4. Thomas Biagio Gudmundsson GSS, 36 points

  5. Dagbjört Sísí Einarsdóttir GSS, 36 points

  6. Rafn Ingi Rafnsson GSS, 36 points

  7. Halldóra Andrésdóttir Cuyler GSS, 36 points

  8. Friðjón Bjarnason GSS, 35 points

  9. Hafdís Skarphéðinsdóttir GSS, 35 points

  10. Arnar Skúli Atlason GSS, 35 points.

In addition, both the men’s and women’s groups competed in the barrier-free points competition. Awards were presented to the top three. In the men’s group, the winners were:

  1. Hlynur Freyr Einarsson GSS, 34 points

  2. Olaveur Oduun Gilfason GA, 33 points

  3. Brynjar Örn Guðmundsson GSS, 31 points.

In the women’s category:

  1. Dagbjört Sísí Einarsdóttir GSS, 27 points

  2. Una Karen Guðmundsdóttir GSS, 26 points

  3. Árný Lilja Árnadóttir GSS, 26 points.

In addition, a proximity award was presented on June 15. Halldóra Andrésdóttir Cuyler, with a score of 76 centimeters, also won the prize for being closest to the hole in the second attempt in September 2018. With a score of 79 centimeters, Hlynur Freyr Einarsson was awarded. We congratulate the winners on their success, thank all the golfers for participating and last but not least, thank Stanur for his support during the tournament.

The 8th Hard Wok High Handicap Championship was then held on Tuesday in good golf conditions. 25 players took part, with 8 scoring over 20 points. The winner of the competition is Guðlaugur Skúlason with 28 points. We congratulate him on his victory.

The seventh event of the Esja Series took place yesterday (Wednesday, August 7). A total of 35 golfers signed up for the event and the results are as follows:

In the open category, which was a no-holds-barred points race, Haakon won by 35 points over Ingi Rafnsson.

The women’s race was a points race with a handicap and Halldóra Andrésdóttir Cuyler won with 38 points.

Hákon Ingi also topped the men’s category (points race with handicap) with 38 points, but since it was not possible to win in both categories (with and without handicap), the winner of the men’s category was Þorvaldur Gröndal, who also scored 38 points.
