Yasodha Range Bandara, son of UNP general secretary Palitha Range Bandara, who was arrested in connection with a road accident in Karuwalagaswewa area of Puttalam, has been granted bail by the Puttalam District Court.
However, the court temporarily revoked his driver’s license.
After producing the suspect before the court, the Puttalam acting magistrate ordered the suspect’s release on a personal bail of Rs 5 lakh.
He was arrested by police following a car accident early this morning (29th).
The incident took place at around 4.30am in the Elephant Pass area, near 7th Mile Post, Mee-Oya, Karuwalagaswewa.
According to reports, the vehicle being driven by Yasodha Range Bandara went off the road and collided with an autorickshaw.
The autorickshaw driver sustained serious injuries in the accident and has been admitted to Puttalam Base Hospital for treatment.
The Kaluvaragaswewa police are conducting further investigation into the accident.
Yasodha Range Bandara had previously been arrested and detained in connection with a 2018 road accident.
