Anderson said the UN needed to deliver the right amount and quality of aid, but “several factors are still holding us back”, citing restrictions on movement, safety of aid workers, unpredictable working hours, communication difficulties and fuel shortages.
“We’re seeing a complete breakdown of law and order, we’re seeing criminal families preventing aid from freely entering Gaza to help the people,” he said.
“The truck drivers we employ are often threatened or attacked … and understandably, they are becoming increasingly reluctant to deliver aid from border crossings to our warehouses and then to people in need,” Anderson said.
He said the United Nations was sending between 25 and 70 aid trucks into northern Gaza every day, but there was no commercial access.
