According to columnist Mark Gurman, the IT giant plans to launch four models: iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max. At the same time, the size of some models will also change: the display of the regular Pro will increase from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, and the Pro Max will increase from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches. In addition, the flagship model will also be launched in a new rose gold color.
Gurman also said that all devices in the new series will be equipped with a powerful A18 processor and 8GB of RAM. This is necessary to support the work of Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence (AI) services. This service is technically demanding and currently only the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max with 8GB of RAM are able to use the service.
In addition, all four models will be equipped with an action button, which was introduced exclusively for flagship devices in 2023. The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max smartphones will have an additional button for improved camera controls.
Recently, there have been reports that Apple has begun mass production of the iPhone 16 series smartphones and plans to complete production of the first batch of products in September.
