India evacuates 9 Bangladeshis from war, Sheikh Hasina thanks PM Modi

New Delhi: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for rescuing nine Bangladeshi nationals from Ukraine in Operation Ganga. Government sources said Nepalese and Tunisian students were also rescued in the operation.

According to the Kathmandu Post, Roshan Jha, the first Nepali national evacuated by Indian authorities from Ukraine, also expressed gratitude for the Indian government’s support. Later, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu informed that the Indian government was evacuating another seven Nepalis from Poland.

Sources said she will be reunited with her family soon. After the Indian authorities rescued her, Shafiq expressed gratitude to the Indian Embassy in Kyiv and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their support. “I want to thank the Indian Embassy in Kyiv for supporting us all the way because we were in a very difficult situation and I also want to thank the Indian Prime Minister for supporting us. Hopefully, we will get home safely because of the Indian Embassy,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) informed on Tuesday (March 8) that all Indian students have been evacuated from Sumy, Ukraine. In the “Operation Ganga”, to rescue Indian citizens from neighboring Ukraine, about 18,000 Indians have been brought back so far on special flights. A press release from the Ministry of Civil Aviation stated that on Tuesday, two special civil aviation flights took off from Suceava to bring back 410 Indians from neighboring Ukraine. So far, about 18,000 Indians have been brought back through special flights since February 22, 2022.
