We already know that from today we will say goodbye to one of our classics relatively early in the men’s Olympic competition for fencers, as our two individual world champions – Andras Satmari and Aaron Siraj – it climbed up to the branches. However, we can only hope that both of them will succeed in overcoming the first hurdle and thus – taking advantage of the whim of the draw – guarantee that we will still be interested in the quarter-finals.

This is not the case, at least for our classmates…

As the three-time defending champion with a 15-match unbeaten Olympic ace behind him, Szilagyi can prepare for a clash with Canadian Fares Alfa in the round of 32. His daily comrade, Chanad Ghemesi He walked with him between the walls of the majestic Grand Palace.

By then we were past the first shock. Despite a strong start, Satmari lost to veteran French crowd favorite Bohrad Apisi in a close fight and picked up several controversial-looking decisions.

Judging by the match situation of the female duelists, Satmarri’s task was not easy. For example, a few minutes before he hit an ace, Auriane Mallo-Breton’s rhythmic encouragement to the fans had a great impact. After all, every successful match of the French fencers is accompanied by makeshift stands and such popular celebrations. In a country where fencing is narrowly considered, there is no reason to be surprised by this, and in any case it is not an exaggeration, not one, who faced a French opponent on this day had to defeat three thousand people. And yet no one expected that there could be a judicial error …

In the interview area, the MTK world champion told Index that he did not want to talk or judge Pashto’s move to the home team, but now he feels that his fencing is more than just an early farewell.

Of course, you often experience things differently from the inside, which is why I wanted to review what happened afterwards, but let’s put it this way, there were nasty judgements on both sides, and I’m ninety-five percent sure I gave the last one. I felt good before the match, this atmosphere where most people were rooting for my opponent and even doping. I thought I had a good start, but after 4 minutes and 4 seconds things changed. I still can’t say what the mistake was, what I should have done differently, tactically or technically, so that I could have won. However, it is very telling that after the celebration, Bollard said I should have won

There was clear disappointment in his voice.

However, the moment that really shocked the Hungarian delegation came after that. Szilagyi was 6:0 behind Olympic newcomer Alfa in the one and a half to two minutes of fencing, so he was in big trouble in a few seconds. After that, his condition improved and chased the score to 6:4, but he was still 4 points behind at halftime.

The Canadian seemed to have read the movements of our three-time world champion, Szilagyi could not catch him and once again gained a significant advantage after the break. With 12 minutes and 8 seconds, the Vasas genius, who had already won everything, still had a glimmer of hope that he could somehow get back into the game, but it didn’t work. Alfa eliminated him 15:8 to enter the round of 32.

It felt like he was a three-time Olympic champion and I was an Olympic rookie – Siraj began his painful assessment. – He surpassed me in every aspect of fencing, both technically and physically. I sat in his parades and promotions, and it was as if he read me like a book. I am so shocked by what happened, I can’t even really comprehend it, and I’m not even disappointed right now. I came here with the intention of defending my title, but I definitely had a good chance to get another medal, and I’m so sorry that it didn’t turn out like that. How did I feel that I could turn things around? Six to four, yes. And then, the tusks were no longer one, but three. If this action had turned out differently, maybe the whole story would have been reversed. But you can’t hold up a single move: not knowing that last time you were beaten so well, it was a completely well-deserved success.

He told Hungarian reporters in the interview area.

The most regular member of the trio, Csanád Gémesi, was the only one who finally managed to cross the first hurdle in the 32nd round of the Olympic fencing competition. However, his victory was promised in advance as the most difficult task. He defeated his American opponent, the reigning world champion Eli Dershwitz, in 15 minutes and 10 seconds, so he could continue the competition with Szatmári and Szilágyi.

Fares Ferdjani of Tunisia will face him in the round of 16, which starts at 3:25 p.m.

In the Field of Female Duelists Esther Muhari Successfully passed the first level, He defeated China’s 20-year-old genius Tang Chunyao 15:10 in the round of 32 and advanced to the round of 16.

There, the South Korean world champion Jong Se-ra, who was considered to have a better chance than him, was waiting for him. The duelist from Tatabanya had so far met his 30-year-old opponent twice in a match lasting 15 games, but lost both times. However, this time he started well and was 2:1 ahead after a fierce first three minutes. He maintained a slight advantage in the continuation of the game, and although he came close to equalizing several times, he never managed to equalize. After one of the actions, we had to deal with the South Korean team, who was clearly not at 100% in the last third of the game. This gave Muhari the opportunity to beat him for the first time in his life and finally succeeded in reaching the top eight in his first Olympic Games with an extremely confident 15:6.

The quarterfinals will be played at 3:50 p.m.
