As for Mr. Pav Sina, Chairman of the Union of Workers’ Movement, he believes that the new government’s mechanism to solve the problem of workers fleeing from factory owners is fast and timely.
He confirmed៖“Compared to what I’ve seen with previous issues, the resolution was very fast, so we’re seeing two different sides. Yes, the difference is that the technical team at the Department of Labor saw the burning sensation on their hands and feet very quickly,” he said. “So I’m just looking forward to the next case like this and hopefully the Department of Labor will continue to work on it or somehow expedite the resolution of the same case for Y&W or RG.”
More specifically, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training sends teams directly to factories to provide employment opportunities for workers who are looking for new jobs after the closure of old factories, Mr. Pav Sina observed.
Mr. Sam Soeun, President of the National Trade Union of Cambodia, said that according to his observation, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training is committed to quickly resolving workers’ problems so that workers can benefit from the Labor Law.
He said៖“In cases of disputes in factories, such as the boss’s escape, fire or other disasters, and general working conditions, we have observed that the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has taken care to speed up all procedures to protect the legitimate interests of workers.”។
Mr Sam Soeun added“We have seen that the Ministry of Labor has resolved all disputes that have arisen seriously, quickly, efficiently, transparently and fairly, which has been acceptable to all parties.”។
The President of the National Trade Union of Cambodia believes that a more developed employment sector with all stakeholders involved in respecting the law, respecting rights and participating in implementing good professional relations will achieve a peaceful community in business.
