The leader of Primero Justicia, Juan Pablo Guanipa, responded on Friday, August 9, to the statement of Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, who recently met with ambassadors to discuss the election results in Venezuela.

Guanipa defended the opposition’s announcement of the election results through his account tenstressing that the published minutes came from the machines of the National Electoral Council (CNE) and were delivered to its witnesses and those of the PSUV.

In his speech, Guanipa also spoke about the case of a deceased citizen whose data appeared on the CNE results platform. The leader said this fact shows the flaws in the electoral registry and the lack of control over information. “This shows that the National Electoral Council has encountered a disaster in the permanent electoral registry, registering deaths,” he said.

Furthermore, Guanipa questioned the existence of an alleged cyberattack, which, according to Rodriguez, could have affected the transmission of results to the CNE. “If a cyberattack prevented the transmission of ballots to the CNE, where did Amoroso get these results?” he questioned, suggesting that the explanation provided by the Vice President was unfounded.

Guanipa concluded his speech by insisting that the election results reflected a significant drop in popular support for the government. “The fact is that Edmundo won by defeat in almost all states of the country.”
