Klaus Gjasula is one of the protagonists of Albania’s campaign and participation in the UEFA Euro 2024. The red and black midfielder was one of the true protagonists of the tournament, scoring an own goal against Croatia and a goal in the final 2-2 draw with Croatia.

Invited to TV Klan, Gazula showed how he became part of the national team almost by chance, and also how he felt about participating in the historic match against Croatia at Euro 2024.
“I started playing football when I was six years old. When my brother became a football player, I realized that I would become a football player too. Every day we played with friends in the neighborhood. When my brother became a football player in Freiburg, I realized that I could be successful there.
My career was different from my brother’s. I went through all the levels in Germany. At 29, I made it to the Bundesliga for the first time, and then I reached the national team level.
We had a friendly against Lazio before the league started. Igli Tare was there. He was watching the game and I was doing well. After the game, out of respect, I went to him and talked to him. He confused me with my brother, Jurgen. He spoke to me as if he knew me and I realized he had confused me. He told me he didn’t know I was his brother. He told me if I wanted to get into the national team because he had been in contact with coach Reggia and he needed players like me. Of course I wanted to do it, so it happened.
Reja is a good coach, an honest man, I can’t say anything bad about him. There is nothing bad to say about Sylvinho. Coming here changed everything. He is honest and will tell you what he wants from you. He is a fair man. It took us to Europe.
The goal at the European Championship? I’ve been waiting for that moment my whole life. What happened was that five players were allowed to warm up and I wasn’t one of them. The strikers got more intense and then Croatia brought in this tall striker and that’s how it all changed. I was a little excited and I got into the game straight away, that is, all of a sudden.
When I came in I had a lot of thoughts. When I came in without touching the ball, 1 vs 1. The second situation on the field turned into an own goal and to be honest I lost my mind a bit. After 3-4 minutes the whole game changed. I wonder why this thing is bothering me now. That’s why we started the counterattack in the last 10 minutes and I always went up before I wanted to recover something. I had 2-3 confused situations, my brain was gone, I was not very calm. In the end I realized that now we have to do something, that’s why I always go forward. I will score, it’s normal, I don’t know. It’s not my game and I’m going to correct the mistakes I made”, said Klaus Jassura.
