Report meyer news agency According to the Russian Satellite News Agency, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Czialto announced that Hungary will not support the EU’s 14th sanctions against Russia due to energy concerns.
Last week, the Euroobserver website announced that EU countries plan to approve the 14th round of sanctions against Russia by July. The website added that the sanctions documents it obtained showed that the package neither restricted the freedom of movement of Russian diplomats in the EU nor banned the import of Russian liquefied natural gas, nuclear fuel or aluminum.
According to the website, the package will target another 52 companies in Russia and other countries suspected of sending prohibited goods to Moscow. The prohibited goods include, in particular, drone components.
In addition, the new sanctions package proposes an EU-wide ban on Russian financial contributions to European political parties and European political foundations, non-governmental organizations and media service providers.
The new draft sanctions also ban EU ports from shipping Russian liquefied natural gas to non-EU countries, ban ships that help circumvent Russian sanctions from shipping from EU ports, and intensify existing EU restrictions on transporting Russian air forces and importing helium and Russian minerals.
Valdis Dombroskis, executive vice president of the European Commission (EC), the EU’s executive arm, said earlier that the EU was working to negotiate a 14th sanctions package against Russia, adding that it was unlikely to contain new restrictions. But it was only an attempt to counter Russia’s actions to overcome the sanctions blockade.
The EU immediately began drafting the 14th sanctions package against Moscow after the 13th sanctions package was approved on February 23. The restrictions include 106 natural persons and 88 legal entities from Russia and other countries such as India, Kazakhstan, China, Serbia, Thailand, Turkey and Sri Lanka.
