The Belarusian Ministry of Health reminds that children should have held a kindergarten or school certificate by September 1. Therefore, there is no need to undergo an additional medical examination at any educational institution before the new school year. The only exception is first-graders.
In the Ministry of Health Explained: Parents need to apply for documents as the child’s birthday approaches. For example, if the child is born on November 1, the medical examination must be completed before this date. However, this does not mean that you need to run to the clinic now. For example, you can get a certificate in October and it will be valid for a whole year.
“A medical certificate is required on the child’s birthday. Thus, boys and girls can safely visit educational institutions in Belarus until the expiration of the health certificate provided by the educational institution,” the Ministry of Health noted.
If the start of the school year coincides with the child’s birth date, the department will take additional measures. According to health officials, clinics have organized a “redistribution of traffic” to issue health certificates. In addition, the ministry has ensured that general practitioners and specialist doctors such as cardiologists, neurologists, pediatricians, etc. will also participate in the examination of children.
The department pointed out: “When issuing health certificates for admission to pre-school and general secondary education institutions, the results of the medical examination in the current year will be taken into account, and no additional medical examination will be required.”
What certificates do first-year students need?
For children who are going to school for the first time, additional requirements are determined for them. Therefore, in a children’s clinic or a private medical center, you need to see a neurologist, surgeon, ophthalmologist, dentist, speech therapist and gynecologist (for girls, if they have not had such examinations before). You will also need to do an electrocardiogram, measure height and weight, and assess physical development. In addition, the following tests must be carried out:
- General blood tests;
- General urinalysis;
- Blood tests to check blood sugar;
- WoRMS analysis.
