How competitive is the Nkok Special Investment Zone?

Libreville, Monday, July 29, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – Launched in 2010, the Nkok ZIS is located in Libreville pk27 and covers an area of ​​1126 hectares. It includes industrial, commercial and residential areas.

The space brings together 144 companies from 17 countries, operating in 22 areas of activity, including a cluster specialized in wood processing (boards, plywood, etc.), and provides more than 8,000 direct jobs and 12,000 indirect jobs.

However, beyond its current influence, the transitional government wants to make it more competitive, attractive and productive. It is in this context that on July 25, Prime Minister Raymond Ndong Sima hosted a working meeting with different people involved in studying the attractiveness of this economic center.

Together, they made an uncompromising diagnosis of the ZIS, while optimistically considering a future through the integration of other industrial pools in the near future. The working session was attended by: Mr. Flavien Nziengui Nzoundou (Minister of Public Works), Jeannot Kalima (Minister of Energy), Camelia Ntoutoume Leclerq (Minister of National Education and Vocational Training), Laurence Ndong (Minister of Communications, Government Spokesperson), Arcadie Svetlana Minguengui Ndomba epse Nzoma (Minister of Environment, Climate and Conflicts between Homeland and Fauna), Marcel Abeké (Minister of Oil and Gas) and Jules Nembe (Minister of Mines).

In addition to government members, experts, senior government officials and officials from the Nkok Special Investment Zone decided to form an expert committee that will meet in September next year to identify the internal mechanisms of the zone’s competitiveness.

As a symbol of success, the Nkok Special Investment Zone has become a globally recognized benchmark over the years and a must-see for all distinguished guests visiting Gabon. Its remarkable success and very inspiring model is becoming a model for other countries.
