The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Kevin Yeung, recently said that the reorganization of the SAR government’s cultural and arts promotion agencies is a milestone in the development of Hong Kong’s culture and arts.
Mr Yeung attended the launch ceremony of the Hong Kong Culture and Creative Industries Development Council (CCIDA), the successor to Create Hong Kong.
CCIDA aims to become a one-stop shop for the industry in areas such as BroadCast Unitedlectual property and content distribution.
Mr Yeung said at the ceremony that the establishment of the new institution was part of the government’s efforts to build Hong Kong into a global hub for arts and cultural exchange.
He said: “Our Culture and Creative Industries Development Bureau is taking on a new mission to create a better environment for Hong Kong, taking the industry as the lead and further promoting the development of culture, arts and creative industries.”
Commissioner for Cultural and Creative Industries Donald Tsang told reporters after the ceremony that the China Cultural and Creative Industries Development Association will pay more attention to the industrialization of the arts and cultural industries.
“Creative Hong Kong is more focused on talent cultivation and has opened up more markets. But … we actually have to have more discussions with each industry to see if we can provide a range of support through different projects to elevate them to another level, perhaps even to the world’s top level. That’s what our strategy is to do,” he said.
