She called the former president’s visit a political stunt.

Trump attended a ceremony and laid a wreath in honor of the 13 American soldiers who died as a result of the 2021 U.S. and NATO withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Trump also visited Section 60, a cemetery the military considers important. Federal law and Pentagon guidelines prohibit political activity there, but the Trump campaign posted a Tiktok video at the cemetery anyway.

– In a solemn place, a place where we gather to honor the American heroes who sacrificed everything for our country. This is not a political place, Harris wrote on X.

– To be clear: The former president showed a lack of respect for sacred places only to create a political stunt, she further wrote.

Trump’s visit was criticized by some veterans and relatives of soldiers. On Friday, the military defended a cemetery employee who was pushed aside in Article 60, saying she acted professionally and was treated unfairly.

Trump claimed in a speech on Friday that families of soldiers killed in Afghanistan had asked him to visit their graves.

He posted a video on social media in which relatives of at least seven of the 13 victims defended his actions. Many of them addressed Harris directly, questioning her support for military families.
