The statement said Benjamin Netanyahu was blocking a deal by putting forward new conditions in the negotiations hosted by the United States, Egypt and Qatar on stopping the Gaza attacks and exchanging prisoners.
The statement noted that Netanyahu’s new term puts the opposition in a dangerous position.
The statement noted that Benjamin Netanyahu “rejects a stable solution and a large-scale withdrawal of troops from Gaza,” and said that Tel Aviv officials want to continue to occupy the Nezarim corridor, Rafah crossing and Philadelphia crossing that separate the Gaza Strip from Egypt.
The statement noted that a new clause on prisoner exchange was added to the proposal; “Netanyahu is responsible for the lives of prisoners who have been subjected to harsh conditions, thwarting the efforts of the rebels, preventing reconciliation, and systematically targeting our people, negatively affecting all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip,” the statement said.
On August 15-16, Israel and Hamas held negotiations in Doha with the support of the United States, Egypt and Qatar to stop attacks on Gaza and exchange prisoners.
