Ciphertext.- Despite recent media reports of growing concern about a suspected anthrax outbreak in Haiti, local media appear to be unaware of the situation.
Due to these possible suspicions, the Department of Defense has taken preventive security measures to protect the Dominican people.
In coordination with the Ministry of Defense, border security protocols have been activated to prevent any possible spread of the disease. These measures include strict sanitary controls and enhanced epidemiological surveillance in border areas.
The Ministry of Public Health reiterates its commitment to the health and safety of the Dominican people, urging residents to take precautions and report any suspicious symptoms.
About the disease
This infectious disease is caused by Bacillus anthracis. Anthrax occurs naturally in wild and domestic ungulates throughout the world, especially cattle, sheep, goats, camels, and antelope. It can also occur when humans come into contact with the bacteria, usually by handling the animals or their fur.
The bacteria is able to form drug-resistant spores that can survive in the environment for decades, posing a persistent threat to animals and humans.
