P-au-P, July 30, 2024 (AlterPresse) – A Kenyan policeman was shot in the shoulder during an attack on a multinational force patrol, an armed group that tried to seize a shipment of rice not far away. After noon on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, around 3:15 pm local time (7:15 pm GMT), the National Port Authority (Apn, located at the bottom of the city of Port-au-Prince) issued a message. This Multinational Security Support Mission (Mmas) Godfrey Otunge of Haiti, on the Mmas X account, is consulted by the online agency AlterPresse.

The Kenyan police officers were evacuated to the Multinational Force Hospital for appropriate care.

Mmas said the Kenyan police officer suffered minor abrasions and was in stable health pending further medical attention.

Several attackers were reportedly killed by the Mmas patrol, which responded to the attack by armed criminals.

The armed attack took place the next day. On Monday, July 29, 2024, Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille and his team urgently evacuated the National University Hospital of Haiti (Hueh) (commonly known as the General Hospital).

Cornier and his team safely left Hugh to try to appease Rameau Normil and Godfrey Otunge, interim chiefs of the Haitian National Police (Pnh).

However, available imagery showed national police and Mmas police taking refuge in combat positions inside Hueh, not far from where the gunfire was heard.

Shooting forced police to cover a procession in Conil after an assessment visit to the largest public hospital in the capital, Port-au-Prince, on July 29, 2024. (emb rc 2024-04-07 30 7:30 pm)
