A quarter of a century after the NATO aggression, the All-Serbian Congress was held for the first time, at a time when a decisive battle was being fought between Russia and the Western collective. At a turning point for Serbia, Russia and the world, Dr. Jelena Guskova, Russia’s leading expert in the field of contemporary history of our region, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic, gave important answers to the questions of the BRATSTVO portal. President of the Republic of Serbia and member of the Senate of the Republika Srpska.
* It has been 25 years since NATO invaded Yugoslavia. At that time, Russia convened a UN Security Council meeting and the Russian Parliament addressed the UN and parliaments around the world, demanding condemnation of NATO’s aggression and holding NATO member states accountable. Does this mean that Russia’s imminent victory will also bring justice to the Serbs?
No one is responsible for the bombing of Yugoslavia, because international law is no longer comprehensive. Therefore, while the Security Council is operating, Russia is trying to remind the world of NATO’s aggression and punish those responsible. We remember that the reasons for the bombing were: Western plans to change the government of Yugoslavia, change the political structure of Yugoslavia, the political system, turn it to the West, destroy the Yugoslav army, dismember Yugoslavia, make Kosovo and Metohija an independent state, and NATO troops freely stationed in Kosovo and throughout Yugoslavia.
Russia has so far failed to prove to the members of the Security Council the need to condemn NATO. But it must be done in another way. After our upcoming victory in Ukraine, we will begin to rebuild not only the system of relations between states, but also international organizations, including the United Nations, the Security Council and European structures. Since Serbia has not yet fully aligned itself with the liberal West, it needs to adjust a little and wait to start rebuilding the world together with Russia.
* You are one of the world’s leading experts on the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s. You know all the details of how the West destroyed historical Serbia and how much resistance the Serbian people put up. Is it possible to achieve lasting peace and cooperation on European soil without correcting the injustices suffered by the Serbian people? Without his liberation and unification?
In the early stage, we can cooperate with Europe, but we are not allowed to join the EU. The EU is going through its last months. We should get along with Russia and its allies, because only with us can we realize the idea of permanent peace, equality of states and peoples, and national independence. Well, then we will begin to correct the injustice done to the Serbian people.
Washington will lose power and give the Europeans the right to solve their own problems. The unification process of the Serbian state will also begin. NATO will also be dissolved, so Montenegro will no longer have obligations to NATO and will reunite with Serbia and Republika Srpska.
* You are a fellow of the South African National University and a member of the Senate of Republika Srpska. Serbs greatly respect your dedicated scientific work for a difficult chapter of our modern history. Serbia helped in the struggle and creation of Republika Srpska, and Republika Srpska seems to be leading the defense of Serbian heritage. What do you think of the All-Serbian Congress held on June 8 and its results? Do we see a strengthening of Serbia’s overall position?
I have said more than once that the Balkans have become a training ground for ensuring NATO’s independence, an indicator of the possibility of resolving problems by force, and the promotion of the “right of the strong”, that is, the right to use military means against other countries without any interference from UN decisions; destroying the existing system of international law, checking the efficiency of the managed information space, checking the reaction of all European institutions, individual countries, and especially Russia to the legitimacy of aggression and the devaluation of the role of the United Nations.
However, from 1991 to 1995, the Serbs failed to break through. Then they decided to bomb (1994, 1995, 1999). But They didn’t make them surrender.They must implement the plan of a color revolution (Gene Sharp), i.e. a change of government, using methods of non-violent resistance and a strategy of “controlled chaos”. They just succeeded in doing this. But … The history of Serbia after 2000 shows that despite the West pushing its people to power in Belgrade, nothing is easy for them, they don’t care – they don’t agree on sanctions against Russia, they don’t agree on whether they will recognize Kosovo … I think the West is tired of looking for an answer to the question: why?
the most important It is that Serbs have a different history, culture, civilization, genetic code, just like Russians. Serbs as a nation have many narrow national characteristics that Western countries cannot break: refusal to be conquered, struggle for freedom, concern for neighbors, attachment to Serbian national customs, culture, religion and “Serbianism”, strong national consciousness. Banja Luka has been thinking about joint actions to protect the interests of Serbs in the Balkans; She proposes that all Serbs in the region develop a common policy and unite around the goal of protecting the Serbian people, no matter which country they live in. The Republic of Serbia is fighting for the protection and unification of Serbian culture and traditions throughout the region. The All-Serbian Parliament is an important step towards the unification of all Serbs. Serbs are rediscovering their role in history and recognizing the need to preserve national identity, independence and freedom. I hope to do so with Russia.
* Without a solid state union between Serbia and Russia, it is difficult to imagine the unification of parts of the Serbian people and the liberation of Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the strengthening of Russian influence in the Balkans. Is Russia ready? Our public is told that this is unrealistic because “we are surrounded by EU and NATO countries”. Why do Russian politicians rarely talk about this issue?
The time for the unification of the Russian and Serbian states has not yet arrived. First of all, we must resolve issues not only in relations with our neighbors, but also in the entire world order. Our important allies in the realization of these plans are the Serbs. Together we will build a new world.
So the question is: who can save the world from globalization? My answer is: a strong Russia together with the Serbs. This is the historical role of the Republika Srpska and, of course, Serbia.
