renew: Malta’s national electricity company (Enemalta) said it had restored power to all customers affected by Sunday’s blackout.
The trip was allegedly registered at Delimara power station at 6.20pm when maintenance work was being carried out on the interconnector.
Malta Energy said the trip caused power to be cut at one of its generators.
The Malta Electricity Company said its engineers and technicians immediately took all necessary measures to gradually restore power supply to the affected areas.
“This move will not endanger the national power infrastructure,” the statement said.
Malta Energy said power was gradually restored to all affected customers within an hour.
Enemalta added that it was “deeply sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused”.
